Nerida Blackford

Hello, and welcome to my webpage. I am very excited to be entering my fourth year as a celebrant.  I am a retired Deputy Principal, having spent over 30 years in Sydney teaching, and raising our son Steven, and daughter Erin, with my husband of 34 years, Mark. Since retiring, we have moved back to the Nambucca Valley, where we were born and raised.

My weeks are filled with  playing lawn bowls, gardening, photography, cooking, and socialising with friends and family. I enjoy  volunteering with  Meals on Wheels too, and hope it gets back to normal soon after Covid! Mark and I love travelling, in Australia and around the world. My time is also spent spoiling my grandchildren, Rory, Willow, Rupert and Amelia whenever I get the chance.

I enjoy celebrating special occasions, and time with family and friends, and weddings of course are one of my favourites!

I have loved the range and variety of weddings I have conducted so far, including the first same sex wedding in Nambucca Heads for an old school friend; a family wedding for my niece; intimate weddings in people's backyards and in settings from local farms, some of our beautiful beaches, along the Nambucca River, The Pub With No Beer and at gorgeous lookouts.

​I am proud to provide a high level of service and to have made close and warm connections with the couples I have supported, as well as local groups including the Nambucca Valley Business Women's Network and a new venture with local wedding vendors to promote the Nambucca Valley as a wedding destination.

In 2019 I completed extra training as a funeral celebrant to expand the range of services I can provide.I have been honoured to conduct funeral services for close friends and their families.
